Minimum wage increases on 1.1.2025 and so does the mini-job limit

On January 1, 2025, the minimum wage will rise to €12.82 per hour (currently €12.41 per hour). Accordingly, the earnings threshold for mini-jobs will also be raised to €556 per month and the transitional range (for so-called midi-jobs) will be between €556.01 and €2,000.

PepperPapers hint for you:

Deviating (higher) industry minimum wages may need to be taken into account. Some of these will also increase on January 1, 2025, e.g. in the electrical trade and in the care sector. Sector minimum wages are minimum wages that are negotiated by trade unions and employers in a collective agreement and then declared universally applicable. These industry minimum wages apply to all companies and businesses in an industry, even if they are not covered by a collective agreement.

PepperPapers recommendation for action:

Check whether it is necessary to increase the agreed wage to the minimum wage applicable from January 1, 2025. Employees who wish to have an employment relationship subject to compulsory insurance (with appropriate coverage, e.g. health insurance) must have gross earnings of at least € 556.01 from January 1, 2025. An adjustment may also be necessary in this respect.
